The Alcatel ASM 10 Helium Leak Detector is a portable helium leak detector. It is comprised of two parts, an analyser block which contains the analysis cell with its high vacuum pumping station, general electric circuits and roughing station, and the electronic cabinet with the control and the signal lights. Detection of helium is made by means of a mass spectrometer analysis cell. The high vacuum unit consists of 1) two high vacuum pumps, one nitrogen liquid trap and one air cooled diffusion pump, 2) one mechanical forepump (backing pump for the diffusion pump and roughing system), and 3) one Pirani gauge head.
The Alcatel ASM 10 can be used to test small or large volume pieces under vacuum or it can be used in sniffing mode. High sensitivity minimum detectable leak is 2 x 10-11 .
