Vacuum Furnace Helium Leak Detection

Vacuum Furnace helium leak testing
HVS Leak Detection provides onsite helium leak testing of Vacuum Furnaces used in the Heat Treating & Brazing industry.

Routine leak detection should be part of your maintenance schedule.  Small leaks can reduce pumping speed and lead to decreased throughput.   If you would like to squeeze in an extra run each week and produce a better product from lower pressures, consider having HVS Leak Detection perform scheduled maintenance for you.

Leak Testing Vacuum Furnaces

Successful use of a vacuum furnace depends on the purity and reliability of its vacuum.   Over time, leaks can develop that will degrade product quality and damage the vacuum furnace itself.   Helium Leak Testing Vacuum Furnaces is required maintenance in order to ensure good vacuum levels and a leak-free environment.

HVS Leak Detection technicians can detect even the smallest leaks in vacuum furnace internals, furnace joints, process gas entries, valves, feedthroughs, and furnace door seals.

Leak Detection in Vacuum Furnaces using a helium mass spectrometer can determine if there is an actual (real) leak or a virtual (outgassing) leak.  Real leaks are caused by a flaw or breach in a containing wall, weld or seal.  Outgassing leaks are caused by the release of contaminants that are present in the vacuum system (residual solvents, condensed humidity from the air) that affect the vacuum levels.

Leak Testing Vacuum Furnace Problem Spots:

  • Furnace Chamber Welds
  • Furnace Door Lip Seal
  • Main Vacuum Valves
  • Gas System Flanges
  • Heat Exchanger Feedthroughs
  • Pneumatic Cylinder Feedthroughs
  • Power Feedthroughs
  • Heating Element Feedthroughs
  • Compression Seals
  • Welds and Brazed Joints
  • Shaft Seals and Bellows on Vacuum Valves
  • Flexible Connectors in Piping
  • Threaded Joints (Vacuum Plugs, Vacuum Guage)
  • Gasket Seals on Feedthroughs, Manifolds, Sight Ports, Cylinder Glands
  • O-ring Seals

HVS Leak Detection technicians are experienced in Leak Testing Vacuum Furnaces used in Industrial and Laboratory environments.
